The AWS European Sovereign Cloud launched a few days ago. Since then I have been pretty busy getting everything set up. I have been exploring what services are available and which are not. So far, I have found that Route 53 domain registration is not yet available. Of course, Route 53 in general is available. I also noticed that currently there are only two availability zones. I am sure this will be increased as more data centers get turned on.

The EC2 pricing seems to be about 15% higher than the Frankfurt region. I suspect other services are similar. I am interested in seeing how spot pricing will compare.

So, at the moment, I am focusing on AWS. Hopefully I can build a consulting business based on it. Any SaaS companies I build will be built on it too. If I need anything on-prem, I will use Incus. I don't currently have a workload that justifies building an Incus cluster, but I am ready when the time comes.

I have also been toying with the idea of building up a business club. A friend of mine is considering working with me on it. With two people, we can at least be accountability partners. In Germany they call that idea “success buddies”. We have been meeting for a few weeks now.

The next few months will mostly be me working on my business. In March I should have a much clearer idea of what my workday will look like.
